TOURNAMENT DIVISIONS
 
Beginning at the 2002 Songahm Taekwondo World Championships, the competition divisions will be defined as listed on TOURNAMENT-RULES listed on ATA Headquarters website. If you cannot list a PDF file the divisions are as follows.
 
Boy & Girls Division by age for -  Color Belts and Black Belts
  •    7 &   Under Boys       7 &   Under Girls 
  •    8 &   9 & 10 Boys       8  &  9 & 10 Girls
  •  11 & 12 & 13 Boys      11 & 12 & 13 Girls
  •  14 & 15 & 16 Boys      14 & 15 & 16 Girls
Men & Women Divisions by age Color Belts and Black Belts.
  • 17 - 29    Men    17 - 29  Women
  • 30 - 39    Men    30 - 39  Women
  • 40 - 49    Men    40 - 49  Women 
  • 50 - 59    Men    50 - 59  Women
  • 60 & Up  Men   60 & Up Women

COMPETITOR REQUIREMENTS
 
Only members in good standing of the ATA, STF and WTTU are eligible ot enter ATA sacntioned tournaments.  In good standing means that, they are color belts, student black belts, Junior Trainee Instructors, Trainee Instructors, Certified Trainiers, or Specialty Certified their organization membership must be current.  If they are are Certified Instructors, their certification must be current. A member in good standing must also be a member of and be training on a regular and consistant basis at an ATA licensed school or club and have his/her Instructor's permission to attend and compete.

TOURNAMENT POINTS BREAKDOWN
 
Class AAA Tournaments will be The World Campionship Tournament.
With 5 or more competitors.
Points: 1st Place = 15, 2nd Place = 9, 3rd Place = 3.

Class AA Tournaments will be any National Tournament
With 5 or more competitors.
Points: 1st Place = 10, 2nd Place = 6, 3rd Place = 2.

Class A Tournaments will be any regional event with a history of 750 or more competitors (by same host) With 5 or more Competitors.
Points: 1st Place = 8, 2nd Place = 5, 3rd Place = 2.

Class B Tournaments will be any regional event with a two event history (by same host) of 749 or fewer competitors.
With 5 or more competitors per age and rank grouping.
Points: 1st Place = 5, 2nd Place = 3, 3rd Place = 1.

Class C Tournaments: are to be "inner-school" tournaments. (Mini-Tournaments)
A limit of 50% of a competitor's  point total can come from Class C Tournaments. (with 5 or more competitors)
Points: 1st Place = 3, 2nd Place = 2, 3rd Place = 1.
