TAEKWONDO
Tae Kwon Do means the art of hand and foot fighting. "Tae" means kick or smash with the feet. "Kwon" means fist or to punch. "Do" means art or way. Tae Kwon Do is the modem form of fighting arts developed over the past two thousand years in Korea.
ATA BLACK BELT ACADEMY
The ATA Black Belt Academy is a member of one of the world's largest martial arts organization, the World Traditional Taekwondo Union. The United States affiliate of the WTTU is the American Taekwondo Association.
We offer what we believe is the best martial art in the world. Taekwondo is an exciting and powerful martial art known for its dynamic kicking and hand techniques. Although these martial art techniques are over two thousand years old, our programs are always evolving to keep pace with the rapidly changing world.

COLOR BELTS
Each class begins and ends with a bow. The white belt of the beginner indicates he is without knowledge of Taekwondo and as one progresses in knowledge, the color of the belt gets progressively darker: orange, yellow, camo, green, purple, blue, brown, red, red/black, and finally black.
The following Grades are required for an individual to obtain the rank of 1st Degree Decided Black Belt. All age groups, Tiny Tiger's, Karate for Kids and 14 year old to Adult must acquire all 9 grades before becoming a 1st Degree Black Belt with Songahm Taekwondo.
SONGAHM TAEKWONDO FORMS TAEKWONDO FOR TEENS & ADULTS
We train our students to the best of their ability. Some students come to us in shape, while other have come to us 100 pounds overweight. Most come to us with limited flexibility. Adults start at any age, as we have had some adults who started as late as age 65, and have still earned their black belts. Teen starting with thirteen through seventeen are no different than adult in many ways. As a student, you are looked upon as an individual, never compared to anyone else. Our instructors will be there every step of the way. All that is expected of you is a willingness to try.

ATA CURRICULUM
The teaching curriculum at the ATA Black Belt Academy is based on two concepts: "positive mental attitude" and "high goal setting." We feel so positive about this program that we promise to give you and your family the most professional, well supervised and the highest quality classes available in any sport or art.
MIND AND BODY
Songahm Taekwondo focuses on personal development of the mind and body. to say it was just self-defense would be to lose most of the valuable ideas and philosophy behind this ancient art. Self-defense is really the fringe benefit that is gained by dedicating one's self to the values, philosophy and training of Songahm Taekwondo.
NOTJUST A SCHOOL
The Black Belt Academy is more than just a
typical karate school. In addition to taking lessons and returning home, ATA and ATA members have the advantage of special activities.
- Social Activities - Lock-Ins, Buddy Days, family outings, summer camps, etc.
- Promotional Testings - Promotional testings are offered bimonthly. In order to test, students must log a minimum number of classes and pass pretesting requirements.
- ATA Mini Tournaments - ATA tournaments offer divisions for everyone! This includes kids and adults, white through black belts, with divisions broken down by rank and age.
- ATA Regional Tournaments - ATA tournaments are offered with the ATA Region 107 (which Tiger's Taekwondo is a member) among the other ATA schools in your area. (See upcoming Tournament Schedule)
- ATA National Tournaments - ATA tournaments are also offered at Las Vegas, Nevada (Spring Nationals) and Orlando, Florida DisneyWorld (Fall Nationals) each year. The excitment of national competition is a great way to evaluate your real progress.
- ATA State Championships - The ATA point systems enables each State to evaluate the competition between Color belt and Black Belt Students who have become members of the Junior Instructor Training Program (See Instructor page for more detail).
- ATA World Championships - The ATA sponsors a World Championship each year. The championship's activities include demonstrations, international black belt testing, international competition for all ranks, a chance to meet the master Instructors of the ATA, and much more.
